Jante är en fiktiv dansk småstad som först nämns i Sandemoses roman En sjöman går iland och utvecklas i romanen En flykting korsar sitt spår. Förebilden för Jante är Sandemoses egen födelsestad, Nykøbing på ön Mors i Limfjorden på norra Jylland. Staden och Across all of Scandinavia, this peculiar set of ‘laws’ or rules exists.
